Blush and Bronze
I was defending the trends the other day and while I was trying to make it sound all analytical and stuff, I was of course just defending myself. I seem to be so influenced by visual cues that I can pick up a trend or two on my way from the bathroom to the kitchen.
A year or so ago I realized that copper and brass and bronze work really well in interiors. Gold can be vulgar (not that it’ll stop me), silver can be too cold, but copper is perfect. I was quite pleased with myself, coming to this conclusion all by myself, with no outside influence whatsoever. Of course, after perusing a couple of interior design magazines, it quickly transpired that this is a full-blown trend with everyone from H&M Home to Ligne Roset doing it.
Anyway, why I’m talking about this now, is that I still think bronze tones look great. And if you like something, it makes sense to acquire some pieces when it’s trendy and there is a wider selection. These rich tones work with so many colour schemes – it’s beautiful and classic with white and cream, chic with grey, rustic-lux with wood and leather, opulent when paired with dark green or turquoise.
One of my favourite combinations is the warmth of bronze with blush – pale pink. I think it works best with some more robust stuff around it and with a non-pastel type of pink, to avoid too much prettiness. In any case, it’s a stunning combination. Even if I – possibly – didn’t invent it all alone.
