Pewter, Silver, Pebble, Grey
For all my love of overstatement, I have my minimal moments. And when they arrive, I often turn to grey, the most sophisticated of colours. There is a thin line between sophisticated and boring and I’m not entirely sure I always manage to stay on the side I intended. I’m not that bothered, though, as there is much beauty and pleasure to be had in the myriad of nuances* of grey, from charcoal to steel to dove.
In addition to finding the right grey for yourself, fabrics are essential. Grey benefits enormously of sumptuous, quality fabrics: silk, cashmere, soft wool, merino, raw denim. While I love grey with other colours – blush, café au lait, tan, tomato red, a right yellow – I think the best way to wear it right now is from top to toe. If I want to liven it up a little, I add a touch of silver. Which in the end of the day is also grey, just shiny.

*Did you think I was going to let my guard down and refer to THAT book? No. Although it’s difficult to find a story on grey these days without the word „shades“ mentioned at least thrice. To compensate, I’ve modelled the title of this post on John le Carré.
I love gray because it is so versatile…..but in looking over my wardrobe I realized it is the most represented color…so I am adding some splashes of blue now with scarves and tank tops…I like this color combo
It really is an excellent base colour, it can work with almost everything. I have some grey cashmere sweaters that I wear constantly.
