Workwear Wednesday: All Rust Everything
As promised in the previous episode of Workwear Wednesday, I’m returning to the head-to-toe neutral dressing with this rust brown ensemble. We have already firmly established that all varieties of beiges and browns are a major trend for 2019: it’s all about finding the shade you like and wearing it in a silhouette that appeals to you.
There really is nothing very special about this look: it consists of a slip dress (worn as a skirt here); a short, rather voluminous knit and a pair of boots. The latter don’t match the rest as precisely as this pair that I usually wear with these clothes. However, I had not brought the right footwear with me to Tallinn*, so had to borrow something suitable for the shoot (H&M to the rescue).
The point here is not to wow you with something entirely unique and stunning, just to suggest one way to wear monochrome and illustrate what I mean when I say ‘different shades of beige and brown’. I am fully aware that you know what brown looks like, but then again, it would be even more boring if I only talked about brown, without pictures.
This outfit is something I would – and have – worn to the office and it’s a nice option for spring. When it gets warmer, you can easily swap the boots for pumps or sneakers and the knit for a light blazer (not necessarily in the same colour). If the slip skirt is too clingy for your taste, a pleated one would work equally well; cropped trousers would also be a good alternative.
It is this weird time of the year when in my head, I am fully in warm-weather mode already and thinking about white, floaty, vaguely Victorian dresses and barely-there sandals. In reality, it’s going to be 13 degrees and rain later this week and the vacation is months away. In this situation, one could do worse than wearing some elegant rust.

*Despite my considerable talents in this area, there is a limit to how many outfits I manage to fit into a carry-on suitcase.
