Thinking of Summer
I’ve been sitting on these pictures for almost a month now, because I promised myself that my blog will not do that stupid thing where you talk about summer clothes three months before summer actually arrives. But the thing is that as this post actually involves some items that are in stores now, waiting until it’s properly warm would be equally pointless. So as a compromise, I have waited until the first really nice days in Brussels. In Estonia it’s of course still snowing, but waiting for the first really nice days over there seems very risky.
If you live in the North, summer clothes are one thing you can save on. I’m not saying you shouldn’t wear anything interesting in summer, of course you should, but you don’t need many special, extra summer things for these 6 days when weather is bearable – most of the time, you can wear the very same clothes you were wearing in the spring or will wear in the autumn (like your denim or silk shirts or lighter knits). There are some things I do find useful to have, though:
– a nice sundress or two
– bikini/swimsuit
– a tunic type thing to throw over your bikini
– shorts
– a tank top
– a pair of long wide trousers
– a flowing maxi dress
– a beach bag (straw will do nicely)
– sandals
When it comes to summer clothes, I’ll happily take classic and comfortable over new and statement-making. As I’m baring more skin than usual, I want things to be flattering and as I get so little wear out of them, I don’t mind wearing them again in a year. So there’ll be a lot of white and blue and tan with an occasional flash of red. I might wear a giant black hat to the beach, though, but that’s another story.

– I was also wearing these sandals that I loved, but have not a good picture of – they seem quite ordinary, but are comfortable, work with everything and look better on your feet.
– bag and sundress by Zara
– Dior’s aptly named nail polish in Yaht and Palais Royal (I’m wearing the latter on the picture, it looks perfect with those sandals)
– Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in 400, the most classic red
