Pretty Sparkle: Roxanne Assoulin Earrings

There are certain themes on this blog that keep returning: overdressing, Middle Eastern food, feminism, double cleansing, white floral perfumes. Clip-on earrings are another one, for obvious reasons: I adore earrings (especially the dangly kind), but as my ears cannot handle piercings, I’m limited to the clip-on and screw-on varieties.

This is becoming less of a problem, as more companies have realised that while some people don’t have pierced ears, they still have money that can be spent on earrings. Plus there’s always vintage. Unfortunately, the designs I really like tend to be by inconveniently expensive brands – Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Erdem, Oscar de la Renta, Miu Miu… Over 400 euros for earrings is not something I’m willing or able to pay (famous last words…).

This is why finding Roxane Assoulin’s jewellery made my heart skip a beat. I love her colourful pieces that have a slight retro touch but still look fresh and the prices aren’t crazy. They aren’t cheap either, but they are at a point that I’m willing to accept. I’m clearly not alone in this: most of Assoulin’s earrings, bracelets and necklaces are already sold out on Net-a-Porter.

I don’t think she does a clip-on design that I don’t like, I’d happily own all of them. I particularly love this mismatched set, though: the shades are wonderful and the fact that the earrings are different just adds a little something. They may seem difficult to wear, but the abundance of colour actually makes them relatively easy to pair with many things. They certainly work well with all jewel tones, everything in the brown-mustard family and obviously black or neutrals or just jeans and a white t-shirt.

On the pictures, I’m wearing a Bordeaux cocktail dress by Ketlin Bachmann: you’ll get a closer look in the coming weeks, I promise. The magnificent red eyes are by Grete Madisson and the beautiful pictures by Laura Nestor.

Pretty pretty pretty! I don’t wear jewellery (and by that I mean I really don’t – I don’t own a single item, I had a few rings, I have lost them, don’t miss them) but her things are so much fun. I especially like the Tie One On bracelet. Nothing like a quote worn thin (literally) to keep your spirits up on a cloudy streak of your life.

I’m not as much into jewellery as I’m into many other things (I’ve got exactly one ring, for example, my eternal engagement one :)), but I do love earrings and tiaras. And I agree, Assoulin’s bracelets are great, she is actually more famous for them than she is for the earrings. I also like that she’s been in this business for 35 years and now has this huge success with her own brand. I’ve just seen on Instagram that Gigi Hadid has worn the same pair I’ve got 🙂

The earrings are fabulous and while I was tempted, I fell down the beaded bracelet rabbit hole and bought three. Eek. It’s summer and hot here and this fits more the wrinkled linen mess I am at the moment. I miss your updates on NST but pop over here to see what you are up to and get ideas.

Dear Amy, so good to see you! I feel a bit resposnible now, but her bracelets are great. And I do miss NST, I’ve in fact been planning to return, as work is a bit calmer now and I’m experiencing a surge in my perfume interest.
