Workwear Wednesday: All Beige Everything
Ah, finally – a proper style post! Not that this one is going to surprise you, as I have been harping on about beige and head-to-toe tonal dressing for months now. What can I say, it’s what I want to wear at the moment and if you are a person who works in a relatively conservative environment, this kind of a look has much to recommend itself.
Obviously, as you can see, I am simply wearing three beige things: a rollneck, a midi skirt and boots. This creates a very unified and rather polished outcome, great for work and more formal – but not very festive – settings. There is a seventies flavour to the look as well, another trend that is firmly sticking around. You don’t need to take the seventies road and you also don’t have to match the colours exactly, I just happened to find several items in this specific beige that I like. The exact shade is of course up to you, although the general idea is to go for a neutral. I have another look coming up with a similar concept but slightly punchier colour for those who are allergic to beige.
Apart from being trendy, the neutral colour family simply really makes sense for the office. You can create a mini capsule wardrobe (if you are that way inclined) with neutrals that you can easily mix and match and that always looks put together. The reason I especially like the cream-brown spectrum is that it’s easy to find a tone that will work with your colouring, although I fully understand that these shades may not be everyone’s cup of milky coffee.
If there is one risk with this type of a work look, it’s that it will not necessarily make you look younger and fresher. There are many ways to wear beige in an edgy way (trust me, there are), but this here isn’t one of them. It is a grown-up look with rather classic shapes and the flipside of this is that it can veer towards frumpy. This is why I would wear it with high heels rather than something sensible (unless you’ll go for a sneaker that will instantly change the dynamic of the whole look). This is also why I like going with the same shade throughout: it makes it very clear that the look is intentional and makes more of a statement.
I’ve just gone through the Autumn/Winter 2019 shows and beiges and browns aren’t going anywhere any time soon. So if you find a shade that suits you, you’ll be set for a while.

I love the 70s vibe here and especially covet the boots!
Thank you! The boots are, indeed, great.
