Workwear Wednesday: Cosy Mustard

Workwear Wednesday: Cosy Mustard

I’m sorry if you are sick and tired of mustard by now, I still have one look to share with you! And as I happen to really like it, I cannot leave it unpublished. So I’ve done casual mustard and sexy mustard and this is the most autumnal of my mustard outfits – let’s call it cosy mustard.

This look is obviously all about that oversized H&M knit that manages to be a statement and very relaxed at the same time. The exaggerated sleeves aren’t necessarily for everyone, but the general formula of a slouchy top, fitted skirt and mules seems like a great modern workwear option to me.

I realised only later that this outfit in fact combines three trends: mustard (or more generally warm, autumnal, slightly seventies colours), tweed/heritage fabrics (it’s not real tweed, but has the same vibe) and animal print (if leopard is too much for you, snakeskin is a great alternative; or the other way round). That is quite a lot for one look to carry, as too many trends can often look a bit desperate, but I feel – maybe misguidedly – that it’s fine here.

It’s also one of those looks where the clothes are not mine. I simply fell in love with the sweater when I was checking out things in the H&M showroom and then quickly assembled the rest. I would have bought the knit in a heart-beat, but as is often the case with showroom items, it was not yet available; same with the shoes. I haven’t seen the sweater online yet, but there is another slouchy option in a similar colour. The skirt is something I wouldn’t necessarily buy, as I already own similar things, but it’s a decent, comfortable piece and super affordable (I think it’s this one, I just wore it the other way round).

This brings me to the end of my mustard series, hopefully in time for you to consider whether it could be something to wear this autumn. There is a lot of style content to come, as I was busy shooting in Estonia in the end of August. Autumn beauty and (life)style edits are coming soon as well, I am still waiting for a few things to arrive that I’d like to feature.

As always, let me know what you think of the look and what you are wearing or plan to. Also, if you are interested in how I wear things in real life, I highly recommend following me on Instagram: I’ve done quite a few stories lately with my outfits of the day (and scents!) and people seem to enjoy them.
